The Road to Hana

We had a great day yesterday! We drove around the East coast of Maui on the road to Hana, a popular drive. We drove through jungle like vegetation and saw so many waterfalls. After Hana we went to a national park and hiked the Pipiwai Trail through a bamboo forest to a 400 foot waterfall. The hike took over two hours but it wasn’t too difficult and was really neat. On the way home we had to drive on a gravel road for miles. The scenery was amazing the entire day!

These pictures are from a small hike to our first waterfall through a bamboo forest.

We continued to see many waterfalls.

The vegetation and scenery was amazing! The pictures don’t capture it.

We stopped at a black sand beach. The sand was made from
tiny pieces of black lava and it is a very different consistency made up of tiny shiny pebbles.

The Pipiwai Trail was a great hike.

The ride back was a completely different terrain with rolling grassy hills, red sand hills, and black lava rocks laying across the fields.
